Poplar Street - Temporary Road Closure Due To Electric Cable Repair Works

The County Council of Durham (Poplar Street, Waldridge, Chester-le-Street) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026

The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road. A 102 metre length of Poplar Street from the rear of No. 18 Poplar Street/No. 15 Pine Street, to the junction with Waldridge Road to enable electric cable repair works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of the closure a diversion will be available to vehicular traffic from the north side of the closure, in a westerly direction on Waldridge Road then south east on Chester Street (Side) & Oak Street (Side), to the south western end of closure and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are required from 8am on Monday 10/8/2026 and for the duration of the works, anticipated to be 9 days. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
