What is happening?

MOLE VALLEY DISTRICT COUNCIL (OFF-STREET PARKING PLACES) (AMENDMENT NO.16) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Mole Valley District Council, in exercise of its powers under section 35(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of other enabling powers, proposes to make an amendment to The Mole Valley District Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 1997, the effect of which will be to clarify that electric vehicles can only connect and charge when parked in a designated electric vehicle parking space, new car parking places at Fairmount House, Bull Hill Leatherhead and the Skate Park, Guildford Road Leatherhead will be added and the introduction of designated long stay permit holder bays at the Upper Fairfield Leatherhead car park.

In addition, to clarifying the extent of the parking places at the existing Pippbrook, Dorking and Swan Centre, Leatherhead car parks, plans have been prepared showing the boundaries of these car parks.

There are other general updates to the Order including clarification that vehicles must not be parked on double yellow lines or any other surface markings where parking is prohibited; and that only roadworthy vehicles may be parked within Council car parks, and that vehicles must be parked for the primary purpose of parking only.

A copy of the proposed Amendment Order, the 1997 Order, a statement of reasons, plans and other associated documents may be seen during normal office hours at the Council’s offices at Pippbrook, Dorking RH4 1SJ

If any person wishes to object to the proposed Amendment Order, the objection, together with the grounds for making it, should be made in writing to the Car Park Manager at Pippbrook, Dorking, Surrey RH4 1SJ by 5pm 24th August 2026.
