Tyne Road - Temporary Road Closure Due To Water Main Repair Works
What is happening?
The County Council Of Durham (Tyne Road, Stanley) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
The Council on 17/7/2026 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road a 16 metre length of Tyne Road, Stanley from the junction/mini roundabout with Wear Road at the northern side of the closure in a southerly direction to enable water main repair works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of closure, a diversion will be available to vehicular traffic from the north side of the closure in an easterly direction on Wear Road to the junction of Avon Road, turning right and heading westwards to the junction of Tyne Road, again turning right and heading northwards and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The works commenced under an urgent 5 day Temporary Traffic Regulation Notice on 13/7/2026 which now require extending from 8 am on 18/7/2026 for approximately 4 days. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
