THE BOROUGH OF ROCHDALE (ADDITION OF A FOOTPATH RUNNING FROM HEAP BROW TO BURY NEW ROAD, HEYWOOD (DEFINITIVE MAP AND MODIFICATION ORDER 2026)
The above Order made on 9 July 2026, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding a public footpath that starts/ends on Heap Bridge at Grid Ref: 382772 410392 at a point located the most southerly corner of the grounds of Heap Bridge Village Primary School, the route proceeds in a northerly direction for 113 metres along a paved/concrete track and steps between school fencing and a field fence to Grid Ref: 382763 410506. Continuing in a generally north easterly direction for 344 metres to Grid Ref: 383091 410597, this section passes over a natural and paved track between fencing on each side running at the back of a factory. Turning in a northerly direction and proceeding for 46 metres to Bury New Road at Grid Ref: 383076 410641 at a point adjacent to 489 Bury New Road. This section is partly natural and partly concrete. The footpath has a width varying between approximately 1 metre and 1.5 metres.
A copy of the Order and the Order Map may be inspected free of charge at Number One Riverside, Smith Street, Rochdale, between 10:00a.m. and 4:00p.m., Monday to Friday, by appointment. The Order and Map may also be viewed on the Council's website at www.rochdale.gov.uk. Copies of the Order and Map may be purchased at the above address at a cost of £5.00.
Any representation about or objection to the Order may be sent in writing to the Assistant Director of Corporate, Legal, Coroners & Governance, Rochdale Borough Council, Number One Riverside, Smith Street, Rochdale OL16 1XU (quoting reference SG/NBH001.795) not later than 27 August 2026. Please state the grounds on which it is made.
If no representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or if any so made are withdrawn, Rochdale Borough Council may itself confirm the Order. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.
