What is happening?
THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
(Various Roads in Oxted) (20MPH Speed Limit) Order 2026
On 21 July 2026 Surrey County Council made the above-named Order, under section 81, 82, 83 and 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to impose a 20mph speed limit on the lengths of roads specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice.
The speed limit proposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011
A copy of the made Order, which will come into operation on 03 August 2026 together with the plan showing the lengths of road to which this Order relates and a Statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order may be inspected free of charge at (1) Tandridge District Council, 8 Station Road East, Oxted, Surrey, RH8 0BT, during normal office hours; (2) Oxted Library, Gresham Road, Oxted, Surrey, RH8 0BQ, during normal opening hours; and (3) Reception, Surrey County Council, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ, by appointment only.
Schedule
(1) the entire length of Beadles Lane (C84) Oxted
(2) that length of Hall Hill (C84) Oxted as extends from its junction with (C84) Beadles Lane and (X35030) Neb Lane to a point 18 metres south-east of the said junction
(3) the entire length of High Street (C84) Oxted
(4) the entire length of High Street (D422) Oxted
(5) the entire length of Godstone Road (C84) Oxted
(6) the entire length of Godstone Road (D422) Oxted
(7) the entire length of Springfield (D438) Oxted
(8) the entire length of St Clair Close (D422) Oxted
(9) the entire length of Brook Hill (D437) Oxted
(10) that length of Sandy Lane (D437) Oxted as extends from its junction with (D437) Brook Hill and (X35052) Meadowbrook to a point 20 metres north of the said junction
