What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Edith Road, Smethwick)

(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Edith Road from its junction with the extended boundary of No’s 31/32 to the extended boundary of No’s 43/44 Edith Road. Traffic will be diverted via Shireland Road, Florence Road, Montague Road & vice-versa. The one-way operation of Edith Road will be temporarily suspended throughout the duration of the works. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 31/07/2026. Purpose – to facilitate the replacement/installation of a new telecoms pole by MJ Quinn (working on behalf of BT Openreach). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Ault Street, West Bromwich)

(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Ault Street at the point of its junction with Kelvin Way. Traffic will be diverted via Kelvin Way, Spon Lane South, Grice Street, Bullock Street & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 07/08/2026, effective from 01/08/2026. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Factory Road, Tipton)

(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Factory Road from its junction with Hurst Lane for a distance of 35 metres. Traffic will be diverted via Owen Street, Sedgley Road West, Hurst Lane & vice-versa. Traffic wishing to turn right into Factory Road off Hurst Lane will be prohibited from doing so throughout the duration of the work. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 06/08/2026, effective from 02/08/2026 (8pm - 6am only). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Vicarage Road, Smethwick)

(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Vicarage Road, which will be closed from the junction of Green Street to the dividing line of property No’s 69/71. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via via Green Street, Stony Lane, Church Hill Street & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 31/07/2026 (9am - 3:30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access to install a replacement telecommunications pole by MJ Quinn on behalf of Openreach.

(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temoprarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Spon Lane South, which will be closed from the junction of Palace Drive (northern side) to the M5 Viaduct (southern side). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Kenrick Way, Telford Way, Oldbury Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 01/08/2026 (6am), effective from 31/07/2026 (7pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for carriageway re-surfacing work by Parade Civil Engineering on behalf of Sandwell MBC. (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Woods Lane, which will be closed from the junction of Chester Road for 50 metres in a southerly direction. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Forge Lane, Cradley Forge, Maypole Hill, Lyde

Green, Bridge Street, Cradley Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 04/08/2026, effective from 03/08/2026 (7pm – 6am). Purpose – to facilitate access for level crossing inspection/testing works by Network Rail.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Roslyn Close, Smethwick)

(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Roslyn Close, which will be closed from its junction with High Street for approximately 20 metres. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via High Street, Regent Street, Lynton Avenue & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 05/08/2026, effective from 03/08/2026 (24hrs). (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Hayseech, which will be closed from south of the entrance to Gun Barrel Industrial Estate for approximately 20 metres. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Shelah Road, Furnace Hill, Haden Hill Road, The Crescent & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 05/08/2026, effective from 03/08/2026 (24hrs).
