What is happening?

SECTION 90A HIGHWAYS ACT 1980, HIGHWAYS (ROAD HUMPS) REGULATIONS 1999 PROPOSED RAISED JUNCTIONS IN THE BOOTH HALL AREA, CHARLESTOWN

NOTICE is hereby given that Manchester City Council proposes to introduce:

Raised Junction Plateaux - 75mm high (+/- 3mm),
width of carriageway with 6mm minimum kerb upstand, gradients no steeper than 1:10 on:

Silver Birch Road (junction with Wild Cherry Avenue/ Horse Chestnut Drive)

• Silver Birch Road from 12m south of Wild Cherry Avenue/Horse Chestnut Drive to 7m north of Wild Cherry Avenue/Horse Chestnut Drive

• Wild Cherry Avenue, 8m west of Silver Birch Road

• Horse Chestnut Drive, 8m east of Silver Birch Road

Silver Birch Road (junction with Norway Maple Avenue/ Horse Chestnut Drive)

• Silver Birch Road from 7.5m south of Norway Maple Avenue/Horse Chestnut Drive to 7.5m north of Norway Maple Avenue/Horse Chestnut Drive

• Norway Maple Avenue, 10.5m west of Silver Birch Road

• Horse Chestnut Drive, 7m east of Silver Birch Road

Sycamore Road (junction with Hemlock Way/Norway Maple Avenue)

• Sycamore Road from 7.5m south east of Hemlock Way/ Norway Maple Avenue to 12m north west of Hemlock Way/ Norway Maple Avenue

• Hemlock Way, 9m south west of Sycamore Road

• Norway Maple Avenue, 9m north east of Sycamore Road Triple Speed Cushions - 75mm high (+/- 15mm), 1600- 2000mm wide, 2m long, 0.7m gap between cushions. Gap between cushion and kerb will vary depending on the carriageway width, gradients no steeper than 1:15 on:

Charlestown Road

• Midpoint 80m east of Silver Birch Road

• Midpoint 14m south west of Sycamore Road

• Midpoint 19m south west of Grange Park Road
Flat Top Road Hump - 75mm high (+/- 15mm), 7500mm long, gradients no steeper than 1:15 on:

Charlestown Road

• Midpoint 125m south west of Grange Park Road

A plan showing the location of the proposals may be inspected in person at the Customer Service Centre Ground Floor, Town Hall Extension, M60 2LA (for Sat. Nav. use M2 5DB) 9am-4.30pm Monday to Friday or requested by emailing phlegal@manchester.gov.uk.   

Objections to the proposals must be sent in writing to phlegal@manchester.gov.uk or the address below, stating the grounds on which they are made, no later than 14th August 2026. Please quote reference L/JUH/HIG002/84232.
