What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14(1) (RODNEY PLACE)
(TEMPORARY CYCLE LANE SUSPENSION)
1. The Council of the London Borough of Southwark hereby gives notice that to enable utility works by Thames Water or it’s appointed contractor, it intends to make an order, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit cyclists from entering part of the above named road.
2. Whilst the works are in progress, or whilst the authorised traffic signs are in place no person shall cause any cycle to enter, proceed, stop, wait, load in the cycle lane on Rodney Place, from the junction of Old Kent Road to the junction with Munton Road.
3. Exemptions will be provided in the Order to permit reasonable access to premises, so far as it is practical without interference with the execution of the said works.
4. The restrictions will not apply to any vehicle being used in connection with the said works, or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes or anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform.
5. The cycle lane will be closed from the 12th to the 14th of August 2026
6. A signed diversion will be in place.
7. This order remains valid for 18 months from the 30th of July 2026. Further information may be obtained by contacting Network Management at ttmo@southwark.gov.uk
