What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE CUMBERLAND COUNCIL AREA)
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.14) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 10 August 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
1. U4434 Cleator Moor – From 10 August 2026 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROC/19177)
From its junction with the C4017, extending in an overall easterly direction for approx. 1.3km.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
2. C4017 Wath Brow, Cleator Moor – From 17 August 2026 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROC/19245)
From its junction with the A5086 Frizington Road, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 2.3km.
Alternative Routes: via the C4004, U4028, Ennerdale Bridge, U4027, Cauda Brow, C4022, A5086, Rowrah Road and Frizington Road OR via the A5086, A595 (Egremont Bypass), and U4032, as appropriate.
3. U4025 Wath Brow, Cleator Moor – From 24 August 2026 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROC/19189)
From its junction with the A5086 Parkside Road/Frizington Road, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 1.4km.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U4025, U4026, A5086, Arlecdon Road, Main Street, Frizington Road, and Parkside Road.
4. C4014 Beckermet – From 25 August 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/18968)
From its junction with the B5345 Cop Lane, extending in a southerly direction to its junction with the C4020 Braystones.
Alternative Route: via the C4020, Braystone Road, Morass Road, and the B5345 Cop Lane.
5. C4013 Sellafield Road – From 25 August 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/18970)
From a point approx. 220m south of its junction with the U4405, extending in an overall southerly direction for approx. 1.5km.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
6. C4004 Calder Bridge – From 1 September 2026 for approx. 6 days (Ref: TTROC/18961)
From a point approx. 80m south of its junction with the U4047, extending in an overall north easterly direction for approx. 1.8km.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C4004, C4016, Thornhill and A595 Calder Bridge.
7. U4041 Haile – From 5 September 2026 for approx. 4 days (Ref: TTROC/18966)
From its junction with the U4041 Bleas, for its entire length towards Toltortgate.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
8. C4020 Beckermet – From 7 September 2026 for approx. 4 days (Ref: TTROC/18980)
From its junction with the C4014 Braystones Road extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 2.1km.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C4020, C4021, B5345, Cop Lane, Morass Road, Braystones Road, and C4014.
9. C4026 Gosforth – From 7 September 2026 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROC/19112)
From its junction with the C4018, extending in south easterly direction to its junction with the C4023.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C4026, C4025, A595, and U4050.
10. U2186 Gilgarran – From 15 September 2026 for approx. 1 week (Ref: TTROC/19517)
From its junction with the U4006, extending in a north easterly direction to its junction with the C2054.
Alternative Route: via the C2054, C4006, C4012, and U4006.
