What is happening?
THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH
TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
PART OF BOTH LANGRICKGATE LANE
AND REDCAP LANE, EAST COTTINGWITH
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made an Order the
effect of which is to prohibit any person from causing
any vehicle to proceed/from proceeding along part
of Langrickgate Lane, East Cottingwith encompassing
approximately 150 metres of the Redcap Lane junction
and part of Redcap Lane, East Cottingwith from
its junction with Langrickgate Lane southwest for
approximately 50 metres commencing 11 August 2026
at 08.00 hours until 13 August 2026 at 18.00 hours.
The reason for the closure is to enable the proposed
excavation to install telecoms cable to link into the
existing apparatus as part of the fibre to home scheme
works, to be carried out and completed in a manner
consistent with ensuring the safety of the public. It is
anticipated that the works will be completed within
three days. The alternative route for traffic affected by
the Order is via:
East - Langrickgate Lane, B1228 General Lane, B1228
Fog Lane, Whitegate Lane and Redcap Lane.
West - Langrickgate Lane, Main Street, Green Lane and
Redcap Lane, Cottingwith CP, Wolds Weighton Ward.
The roads will be closed to all through traffic but
access will be maintained for residents, emergency
vehicles and pedestrians. The Order will commence
11 August 2026 and continue in force for a period
not exceeding eighteen months or until the works
which it is proposed to carry out have been completed,
whichever is the earlier. Further information can
