(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.18) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The Order will come into operation on 10th August 2026 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.
The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Osborne Road the whole length. Diversion route via Park Street, Cutenhoe Road, Seymour Road, Park Street, Manor Road, Windmill Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 10th August 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Strathmore Avenue from its junction with Park Street to its junction with Seymour Avenue. Diversion route via Park Street, Seymour Road, Seymour Avenue. Anticipated date and times of closure 10th August 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Hillary Crescent the whole length. Diversion route via Meyrick Avenue. Anticipated date and times of closure 11th August 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Santingfield North the whole length. Diversion route via Whipperley Way, Northdrift Way. Alternatively, via Northdrift Way, Whipperley Ring. Anticipated date and times of closure 11th August 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Santingfield South the whole length. Diversion route via Whipperley Way, Whipperley Ring, South Drift Way. Alternatively, via South Drift Way, Whipperley Way. Anticipated date and times of closure 11th August 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Beechwood Road from its junction with Waller Avenue to its junction with Dunstable Road. Diversion route via Dunstable Road, Waller Avenue. Alternatively, via Wingate Road, Arundel Road, Dunstable Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 12th August 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Bunyans Close the whole length. No diversion available. Anticipated date and times of closure 13th August 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Westmorland Road the whole length. Diversion route via Marsh Road, Limbury Road, Neville Road. Alternatively, via Neville Road, Icknield Way, Calverton Road, Watermead Road, Bramingham Road, Marsh Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 13th August 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Needham Road the whole length. Diversion route via Toddington Road, Montague Avenue, Acwoth Crescent, Hockwell Ring. Anticipated date and times of closure 14 August 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Hasketon Drive the whole length. Diversion route via Toddington Road, Montague Avenue, Acwoth Crescent, Hockwell Ring. Anticipated date and times of closure 14th August 2026, 8am to 6pm.
The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to enable Volker Highways to carry out highways surfacing and improvement works. For the period of the closure, the Order will also provide for “No Waiting and No Loading” restrictions to apply within the roads and lengths of roads closed for said works. Any vehicle deemed to be in contravention of the restrictions will be issued with a penalty charge notice and removed. This will be in force when traffic signs, barriers or cones are displayed. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic where available will be marked by signs.
