What is happening?

PUBLIC NOTICE

THE CITY OF SOUTHAMPTON (ST MONICA SAFER ROUTES TO SCHOOL) SPEED LIMIT ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT SOUTHAMPTON CITY COUNCIL made the above Order on 15th July 2026, the effects of which will be:

1. A 20mph speed limit on the following roads (for their entire lengths unless otherwise stated):

Ambleside Gardens, Botany Bay Road - from 160m south of its junction with Bay Road to its junction with Kathleen Road, Chapel Crescent, Kathleen Road - from its junction with St Monica Road to its junction with Alfriston Gardens, Lynden Gate, Maxwell Road, Rothbury Close, South East Road - from its south-eastern junction with Botany Bay Road to its junction with North East Road, and St Monica Road - from its junction with Church View Close to its junction with South East Road.

This Order will come into operation on 21st August 2026.

Copies of the Order, relevant map and statement of reasons can be viewed on the Councils website: transport.southampton.gov.uk/TRO or may be inspected Monday-Friday, 10am–3pm at Gateway in the Civic Centre, Southampton SO14 7LY.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act, or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with, may, within 6 weeks from the date of the Order, make application for this purpose to the High Court.
