Coming into force: 3/8/2026
This Order is being introduced because of asphalt resurfacing works which are anticipated to take until 31/8/2026 to complete. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the length of the A34 southbound carriageway between the Pear Tree Roundabout and the Marcham Interchange with hard shoulder/layby closures at work sites, from 20:00 to 06:00 nightly and some weekends. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.
Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works.
For the first phase of works, the alternative route for traffic affected by the closure is via the Oxford ring road (A44 South, A40 East, A4142 South, then A423 West to A34).
For the second phase of works, the alternative route is via the A423 East, A4074 (Heyford Hill) South, A415 West to Abingdon and A34.
This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.
