TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in accordance with Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Southampton City Council intends to make the above Order.
1. The effect of the Order will be:
a) To close the following lengths of road(s):
Road | From | To | Alternative Route |
Castle Way | Its junction with St Michaels Street | Its junction with French Street | St Michaels Street, High Street and Town Quay |
b) To introduce the following no waiting restriction(s):
Road | Side | Extent | Hours of operation |
French Street | Eastern | For its entire length | 24/7 |
c) To suspend the following one-way except cycles restriction(s):
Road (From) | Extent | Direction of Travel |
French Street | From its junction with Town Quay northwards for 126m | South |
3. The alternative route(s) will be St Michaels Street, High Street and Town Quay.
4. The Order will come into force on 3rd August 2026 and has a maximum duration of 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is sooner. It is expected that the works will be complete by 31st August 2026.
