Cumberland - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE CUMBERLAND AREA) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.12) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs and as and when the temporary closure are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 5 August 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
1. C2012 Abbeytown - From 5 August 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROCI/8976)
From its junction with the B5302, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 270m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the C2012, B5307 Abbey Road, and the B5302.
2. U2151 Smithy Lane, Caldbeck - From 10 August 2026 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROCI/9018)
From its junction with the U2150 The Street, extending in a northerly direction to its junction with the B5299.
Alternative Route: via the B5299 and U2150, The Street.
3. U2123 Uldale - From 10 August 2026 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROCI/9075)
From its junction with the U2121, extending in a north westerly direction to its junction with the U2125.
Alternative Route: via the U2125, C2004, U2127, and U2121.

From its junction with the U2052, extending in an overall south westerly direction to its western junction with the B5302.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U2051, and the B5302.
5. U2054 Oulton – From 18 August 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROCI/9238)
From its junction with the C2040, extending in an overall westerly direction for approx. 780m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U2054, C2051 and C2040.
6. C1038 Curthwaite – From 24 August 2026 for approx. 10 days (Ref: TTROCI/8943)
From a point adjacent to the property known as Acorn Cottage, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 1.5km to a point adjacent to the property known as Wrayside Cottage.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C1038, C3027, C3015, A6, and B6263.
