Public Path Diversion and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2026

The above order, made on 13th July 2026, under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980, will Divert Public Footpath No. 17 Great Aycliffe from a point adjacent to the River Skerne, south-west of Ricknall Mill Farm, proceeding in a generally north-easterly then northerly and north-westerly direction past the farm to a point on Ricknall Lane to a line running from the same point south-west of Ricknall Mill Farm in a generally north-easterly then north-westerly direction away from the river, then north-easterly and easterly to a more westerly point on Ricknall Lane as shown on the order map.

The above order will also modify the Definitive Map and Statement of the Public Rights of Way for County Durham by deleting and adding the footpath described.

A copy of the order and the order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Newton Aycliffe library & at County Hall, Durham during normal opening hours and via the Council website.

Any representations about or objections to the order may be sent in writing addressed to Sharon Renwick, Legal Assistant, Legal and Democratic Services, PO Box 274, Stanley, County Durham, DH8 1HG or by email to Highways.orders@durham.gov.uk (ref:16055528) not later than 14th August 2026. Please state the grounds on which they are made.

If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the County Council of Durham may confirm the order as an unopposed order. If the order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment for confirmation any representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the order.
