Park Street - Temporary Road & Footpath Closure Due To Gas Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (Park Street, Seaham) (Temporary Road and Footpath Closure) Order 2026
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular and pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road and footpath.
Road Closure (closed to vehicular traffic)
A 111 metre length of road, to the front of No. 1-19 and 20-31 Park Street.
Footpath Closure (closed to pedestrian traffic)
A 28 metre length of footpath, to the side of No. 23 and 24 Park Street to enable gas main replacement works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of the closure a diversion will be available to vehicular traffic from the west side of the closure, in a southerly direction on Princess Road Back, then east on Rainton Street and north on Park Street/Rainton Street Cross to the eastern end of the closure and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed are required from 8am on 4/8/2026 and for the duration of the works are anticipated to be 5 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
