THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (REDHOUSE LANE, BREDBURY (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Redhouse Lane, Bredbury, from the junction of Stockport Road East in a south-westerly direction for approximately 50 metres, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road. This Order is necessary to allow for works to resurface the carriageway and linemark the Stockport Road East / Hyde Road junction (A560). It is estimated these works will last 10 days, and are expected to take place from 7pm to midnight. The following diversions will be provided: Eastbound Diversion - Hyde Road, Pennine Road, Werneth Road, Greave, Sandy Lane, Compstall Road, Lower Fold, Brabyns Brow, Station Road, Stockport Road, Dooley Lane, Otterspool Road, Barrack Hill, Berrycroft Lane, Higher Bents Lane, and Lower Bents Lane.
Westbound Diversion - Stockport Road East, and Lower Bents Lane. This Notice does not apply to any vehicle on any occasion when it is being used for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes. This Notice does not apply to pedestrians, and local access will be maintained. This Order is to come into operation on the 12 August 2026 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
