To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Horsted Green – from the junction with A26 Lewes Road to the junction with U7867 Worth Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 5 August 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 5 and 6 August 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Mill Lane – from the junction with C11 Croft Road to the junction with A26 Beacon Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A26 Beacon Road – B2100 High Street – C11 Croft Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 3 August 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 3 and 12 August 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Iwood Lane – from the junction with U7410 Shrieks Lane to the junction with C16 White Horse Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7919 Iwood Lane – C16 White Horse Road – U7410 Shrieks Lane and vice versa.

However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 09:30hrs to 16:00hrs on 20th July 2026 and from 19:00hrs to 06:00hrs on 31 July and 1 August 2026 depending upon the weather conditions. NOTICE OF MAKING OF AN ORDER

HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

THE EAST SUSSEX

(PUBLIC FOOTPATH HELLINGLY 73 (PART)) PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2026

The above Order made on 17th July 2026, under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and Section 53a(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

The Order will divert part of public footpath Hellingly 73 from TQ 6002 1513 running in a generally north-north-easterly direction for 243 metres to TQ 6010 1536 (A-B on the order map), to a new route having a width of 4 metres and running from TQ 5997 1525 in a north-easterly direction for 176 metres to TQ 6010 1535 (C-B on the order map).

A copy of the Order and Order Map and an explanatory statement have been deposited and can be inspected free of charge Main Reception County Council County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes Mondays to Fridays between 9.00am and 4.00pm and at Wealden District Council’s Offices, Vicarage Lane, Hailsham, BN27 2AX during office opening times. Any representations about or objections to the Order may be sent in writing to Rights of Way & Access Team, East Sussex County Council, West B, County Hall, Lewes, BN7 1UE, or via email row.consultations@eastsussex.gov.uk, no later than 14th August 2026. Please state the grounds on which they are made and quote reference ROW/DIV/HELLINGLY/SC.

If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the East Sussex County Council may confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment for confirmation any representations and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.

DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT

THE EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL (PUBLIC RESTRICTED BYWAY LONG MAN 45, PUBLIC BRIDLEWAYS LONG MAN 46A, LONG MAN 46B)

DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2025

The above Order, made on 24 January 2025, was confirmed by the Secretary of State with modifications set out in the Formal Decision which do not require advertising on 10 June 2026 and took effect from that date. The confirmed Order modifies the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding a public restricted byway and two public bridleways as follows:

A public restricted byway with an arbitrary centreline route as shown on the Order Plan between points A-B. Commencing from a point on Folkington Lane at the edge of the adopted public Highway extent, south-west of By Park Cottage at point A at TQ 5658 0404 with a width of 7 metres. Continuing in an east south-easterly direction for 25 metres along a lane to a point south-east of By Park Cottage at TQ 5661 0403 with a width of 3 metres.

From here the restricted byway continues with a width of 3 metres in a south-easterly direction for 60 metres on a gradual curve north-west of Old Rectory Cottage to a point at TQ 5665 0399. The restricted byway continues with a width of 3 metres in a south south-easterly direction for 40 metres on a gradual curve south of Old Rectory Cottage until it reaches a south-west bend in the lane, north of Kelsons, where the restricted byway terminates at point B at TQ 5667 0396. The width at B is 3 metres.

A public bridleway with an arbitrary centreline route as shown on the Order Plan between points B-C-D with a width of 3 metres throughout. Commencing from a point where public restricted byway Long Man 45 terminates north of Kelsons, at point B at TQ 5667 0396. Continuing in a south-westerly direction for 145 metres along a lane until it reaches a point in front of the entrance drive of Badgers Bank at TQ 5658 0384. The bridleway continues in a southerly direction for 10 metres until it reaches a point at TQ 5658 0383. From here, the bridleway continues in a south south-westerly direction for 30 metres uphill, to the east of Badgers Bank, until it reaches a point at TQ 5657 0380. The bridleway continues in a south-westerly direction for 48 metres uphill until it reaches a point at TQ 5655 0376. The bridleway continues in a south south-westerly direction again for 25 metres uphill until it reaches the junction of public footpath Long Man 41 at point C at TQ 5654 0374. From point C the bridleway continues in a south south-westerly direction for 20 metres uphill until it terminates at point D at TQ 5654 0372.

The Order took effect from 10 June 2026 but any person aggrieved by the confirmed Order who wishes to question its validity on the grounds that it is not within the powers of section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 or that any of the requirements of Schedule 15 to that Act have not been complied with in relation to the Order may within 42 days from the date of this Notice make an application to the High Court under paragraph 12 of Schedule 15 of the said Act.
