What is happening?

(TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026
Reading Borough Council intends to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily:
- Suspend, where applicable, all single yellow line restrictions, double yellow line restrictions and marked parking bays on Northumberland Avenue between its junctions with Ella Garrett Close and Honiton Road.
- Suspend, where applicable, all single yellow line restrictions, double yellow line restrictions and marked parking bays on the lengths of road specified in the Schedule below.
- Impose a no stopping, waiting or loading/unloading at any time restriction in the lengths of road specified in paragraph 1 above and the Schedule below.
If made, the Order will come into force from 27 July to 18 December 2026. The provisions of the Order shall only apply on the above dates when indicated on site by the presence of appropriate traffic signs in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. Nothing in the Order will apply to vehicles used by Thames Water, their contractors or subcontractors.
Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary for excavation and installation of replacement water mains.
