(East Dean: Public Footpath No. 447)

(Temporary Closure) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice WSCC intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any person from proceeding along a length of Public Footpath No 447 from its junction with Racecourse Road (489667.702, 111402.603) south-eastwards to its junction with Hat Hill Road (490174.889, 110834.727), a distance of 780M

The Order is necessary to protect public safety whilst water mains are replaced.

Unfortunately there are no alternative routes available using the Public Rights of Way network.

The Order will come into effect on 3rd August 2026 and will last for 6 months.

(Lavant: Trundle Hill)

(Temporary Closure) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice WSCC intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along Trundle Hill between Pook Lane and Racecourse Road.

The Order is necessary to protect public safety whilst electrical connection works are undertaken.

The Order will come into effect on 3 August 2026 and will last for 18 months or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is expected the proposed works will start on or after 3 August 2026 and will be completed by 22  August  2026.

(Northchapel: Public Footpath No. 588_1)

(Temporary Closure) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that WSCC has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any person from proceeding along a length of Public Footpath No 588_1 from its junction with Hillgrove Lane (494838.083, 128979.493) southwards to its junction with Public Footpath No. 586 (494771.976, 128358.514), a distance of 930M.

The Order is necessary to protect public safety due to a dangerous bridge.

Unfortunately there are no alternative routes available using the Public Rights of Way network.

The Order will come into effect on 22nd July 2026 and will last for 6 months.

(20mph Speed Limit) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that in exercise of their powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, WSCC, made a permanent Order the effect of which will be to introduce a 20MPH speed limit on lengths of:-

Barncroft Close, Bayley Road, Bishops Road, Caedwalla Drive,

Canberra Place, Chestnut Walk, Chichester Drive, Church Lane,

Churchwood Drive, City Fields Way, Derwent Close, Duxford Close, Edwards Avenue, Fulmar Way, Gamecock Terrace,

Garland Square, Gibson Road, Haleybridge Walk, Hampden Place, Hawker Close, Hearn Close, Lysander Way, Malcolm

Road, Meadowside Walk, Merlin Close, Middleton Gardens,

Nelson Close, Nettleton Avenue, Neville Duke Way, Nicholson

Close, Oakwood Close, Old Cottage Close, Sunderland Close, Tamar Way, Tangmere Road, The Boulevard, Whitebeam Way and Woodfield Close

The proposed 20MPH speed limit will not be introduced on Meadow Way.

The Order will come into operation on 20 July 2026. Paper copies of documents will not be available to view in council offices or libraries. People without access to a computer who wish to have a copy of the Order should telephone the WSCC Contact Centre on 01243 642105 to receive a copy by post.

Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order, or of any provision contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act, or on the grounds that any requirements of the act, or of any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may within 6 weeks from 16 July 2026, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
