Various Roads, Purbeck (For Camp Bestival, 2026 Event)
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It will be in operation from 23.59 hrs on Monday 27th July 2026 till 23.59 hrs on Monday 3rd August 2026, a period of 7 days. This Order will allow for the safe management of traffic while the Camp Bestival event takes place at Lulworth Castle, East Lulworth. The effect of this Order is as follows:
[A] From 23.59hrs on Monday 27 July 2026 till 23.59hrs on Monday 3 August 2026, a period of 7 days to:
- Impose a temporary 20 mph speed limit upon the B3070 between the 30 mph speed limit signs either side of the village, a distance of approximately 1,000 metres.
- Impose a temporary 30 mph speed limit upon the B3070 from Botany Farm westward towards East Lulworth to the deregulation signs, a distance of approximately 700 metres.
- Impose a temporary 30 mph speed limit along the Military Bypass, from its eastern junction at the B3070 to the B3071 (Burngate junction), a distance of approximately 4,000 metres.
- Impose a temporary 40 mph speed limit on the B3071 from Wool to the junction of the B3070.
- Impose a clearway on the B3070 between the existing clearways, Botany Farm to the junction with Whiteway, a distance of approximately 1700 metres.
- Impose a clearway on the B3071 between Burngate junction and the junction with New Buildings Road, a distance of approximately 3,250 metres.
- Impose a clearway on the C48, Coombe Keynes Road between its junction with the B3070 (The Triangle) and Manor Yard, Shaggs, a distance of approximately 1,100 metres.
- Impose a temporary pedestrian prohibition on the B3070 from the White Gates at the entrance to Lulworth Castle to the Burngate junction (B3071), a distance of approximately 2,250 metres.
- Impose a temporary 30mph speed limit upon the C48, Coombe Keynes road between the B3071 and the B3070, a distance of 3,800 metres.
[B] Between 07.00hrs on Thursday 30 July 2026 and 17.00hrs on Sunday 2 August 2026, a period of 3 days and 10 hours.
- Impose a temporary one-way system on New Buildings Road, between Number 6, Burton Cross and the B3071 (one-way southbound), a distance of approximately 2,000 metres.
[C] Between 07.00hrs and 20:00 on Thursday 30 July 2026, a period of 13 hours.
- Impose a temporary no right turn off the A352 Wareham road onto the B3070.
[D] From 17.00hrs on Sunday 2 August 2026 until 15.00hrs on Monday 3 August 2026, a period of 22 hours, to:
- Impose a temporary one-way system on New Buildings Road, between Number 6, Burton Cross and the B3071 (one-way northbound), a distance of approximately 2,000 metres.
[E] From 07.00hrs till 15.00hrs on Monday 3 August 2026, a period of 8 hours, to:
- Impose a temporary one-way system on Holme Lane, between its junction with West Lane and the B3070 (one way westbound), a distance of approximately 3,500 metres.

Temporary Closure of Various Footpaths
East Lulworth & Coombe Keynes For Camp Bestival, 2026
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding along the following footpaths, from 23.59hrs on Sunday 26 July 2026 until 23.59hrs on Tuesday 2 August 2026. The Order is made to allow the Camp Bestival (music festival) event site to be secured whilst it is established, during the event, and afterwards whilst the site is being dismantled.
[a] Footpath 4, Coombe Keynes from grid ref. SY 8499 8388 to grid ref. SY 8351 8318, a distance of approximately 2,200 metres;
[b] Footpath 2, East Lulworth, from grid ref. SY 8590 8173 to grid ref. SY 8617 8204, a distance of approximately 360 metres;
[c] Footpath 3, East Lulworth, from grid ref. SY 8541 8185 to grid ref. SY 8577 8201, a distance of approximately 560 metres.
Alternative routes will be signposted around the closures of Footpath 4, Coombe Keynes and Footpath 2, East Lulworth using the local highway network. No alternative route will be signed for the closure of Footpath 3, East Lulworth as this footpath leads to the church, which will be closed for the duration of Camp Bestival. Access for emergency vehicles will still be allowed.

Temporary Closure of Queens Avenue, Dorchester
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along QUEENS AVENUE, DORCHESTER from its junction with Clarence Road for a distance to the east of approximately 50 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 20 July 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 28 August 2026.
This Order will enable Dorset Council safe access for installation of raised table junction and zebra crossing.
A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Temporary Closure of Public Bridleway S37/1, Portesham
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along public bridleway S37/1 from grid reference SY 60363 86074 to grid reference SY 60991 86681, a distance of approximately 1000 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.
It will come into operation on 03 August 2026 for a period of 26 weeks. This Order can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.
The Order is required to allow site improvement works at Portesham Water Treatment Plant.
The alternative route will be from SY 60363 86074 head south along Portesham Hill and Front Street to SY 60293 85867, the junction with Winter's Lane, a distance of 230 metres. From SY 60293 85867 head east along Winter's Lane to SY 60823 85791, the junction with bridleway S37/5, a distance of 540 metres. From SY 60823 85791 follow the bridleway generally northeast and then north to SY 60991 86681, a distance of 1150 metres.

Temporary Closure of Cokers Farm Road, Stinsford
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Cokers Farm Road, Stinsford for its entirety.
Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 20 July 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 31 July 2026.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out highway maintenance works.
A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along B3159, WINTERBOURNE STEEPLETON, between its junction with A35 and its junction with Coombe Road, a distance of approximately 195 metres.
The Order is needed in order to comply with and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 03 August 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 14 August 2026.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out work following bank erosion from landslip.
A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath 19, Portland
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Public Footpath 19 from grid reference SY 698 712 to grid reference SY 697 710, for a distance of approximately 185 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.
It will come into operation on 24 July 2026 for a period of 26 weeks and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.
This Order is required for health and safety reasons due to increased frequency of rock falls in the area.
An alternative route will be put in place to avoid the closed section of footpath.

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath N46/20, Pulham
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Footpath N46/20, Pulham from grid reference ST 731 077 (point A on the map below) to grid reference ST 725 075 (Point B on map below), a distance of approximately 650 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 11th August 2026 for a period of 26 weeks, but it may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.
This Order is needed due to health and safety reasons related to the construction of planning permission VOC/2024/05918.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: from point A (grid ref ST 731 077) head northeast along footpath N46/20 to Bugwood Farm, then turn southwest along footpath N49/19 until point C (grid ref ST 726 056). Then turn Northwest along footpath N46/17 to point D (grid ref ST 723067). Then turn roughly north along public bridleway S10/18 to point E (grid ref ST 718 073), then turn west along N49/4 to point B (grid ref ST 725 075) or follow blue dotted line on map below. Revise route applies.
