What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Parsonage Street, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Parsonage Street, from its junction with Popes Lane to its junction with the access road to Steel and Alloy Processing. Traffic will be diverted via Popes Lane, Tat Bank Road, Parsonage Street & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 26/07/26. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Newbury Walk, Rowley Regis) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 (No.2) intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Newbury Walk (cul-de-sac), which will be closed at the junction of Bluestone Walk. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 31/07/2026, effective from 27/07/2026 (8am-6pm only). Purpose – to facilitate the connection of new storm and foul water sewer connections at the rear of No.13 Portway Hill. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Coronation Road, Wednesbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Coronation Road, which will be closed from the junction of Crankhall Lane for 35 metres. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Crankhall Lane, Gloucester Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 26/07/2026 (8am-6pm). Purpose – to facilitate access to replace a defective service access cover and frame by Severn Trent Water.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (The Uplands, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along The Uplands, which will be closed from the junction of Park Street (northern side) to the dividing line of property No’s 101/103. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A traffic diversion route (south-easterly direction) will be signed via Hales Lane, Manor Road & Church Road. A traffic diversion route (north-westerly direction) will be signed via Manor Road & Hales Lane. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 31/07/2026, effective from 27/07/2026. Purpose – to facilitate access for a new water service connection by Onsite on behalf of South Staffs Water.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Penncricket Lane, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Penncricket Lane, which will be closed between the junctions of Grafton Road (western side) & Cakemore Road. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A traffic diversion route (westerly direction) will be signed via Cakemore Road, Station Road, Oldbury Road, Birchfield Lane, Birchley Island & Wolverhampton Road. A traffic diversion route will be signed via Long Lane & Archer Way to join the above diversion route at Oldbury Road. A traffic diversion route (northerly direction) will be signed via Wolverhampton Road, Birchley Island, Birchfield Lane, Oldbury Road, Archer Way & Long Lane. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 10/08/2026, effective from 27/07/2026 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access for gas main replacement work by Cadent Gas Ltd.
