What is happening?

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BARNET

The Barnet (Free Parking Places, Loading Places, Waiting, Loading And Stopping Restrictions) (Amendment No.307) Order 2026 - The Barnet (Charged For Parking Places) (Amendment No.207) Order 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of The London Borough of Barnet have made on 16th July 2026 the above-mentioned Orders under Sections 6, 2, 35 and 49 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers and to install electric vehicle charging points under section 16 of the London Local Authorities and Transport for London Act 2013.

1. As part of an in-process and completed public highway adoptions in the borough and on-going regeneration development works it is considered that certain lengths of public highway should be kept clear of parked vehicles to ensure motorists and pedestrian safety, prevent obstructive parking, and allow adequate traffic flow.

The general effect of the Free Order will be to introduce new ‘At any time’ waiting restrictions as follows:
- At the junction of Kenilworth Road and Maytree Close HA8
- At the junction of Kenilworth Road and Glengall Road HA8
- At the junction of Kenilworth Road and Morley Crescent HA8
- At the junction of Bushfield Crescent HA8 and the northernmost junction of the entrance to Broadfields Estate HA8
- At the junction of Bushfield Crescent HA8 and the southernmost junction of the entrance to Broadfields Estate HA8
- At both junctions of the Kenilworth Road HA8 island between Nos.1 and 29 Kenilworth Road

2. The general effect of the above Orders will be:-
(a) to provide parking places which may be used free of charge by electrically propelled vehicles that are being charged with electrical power, operational ‘at any time’ on Mondays to Sundays inclusive for a maximum stay period of 3 hours, in the locations detailed in the Schedule to this Notice.

(b) to formally install electric vehicle charging points adjacent to the proposed parking places, as specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

Although parking in the electric vehicle bays is free of charge there is normally a cost involved in the use of the adjacent electric vehicle charging points.

Copies of the Orders, which will come into operation on Friday 24th July 2026 and the Council's Statement of Reasons for making the Orders can be obtained, for a period of 6 weeks from the date on which this notice is published, by emailing: parking.consultations@barnet.gov.uk, or by writing to: Design Team, Highways Section, 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London, NW9 4EW.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Orders or any of their provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the requirements thereof or any regulations made there under have not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.

SCHEDULE – ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING BAYS

Outside No.81 to No.83 High Road, N2

(6.5 metres), (Convert part of an existing pay and display parking bay operating Monday to Saturday 8:00am to 6:30pm, Outside No.84 Ballards Lane, N3, (5.5 metres), (Convert part of an existing pay and display parking bay operating Monday to Saturday 8:00am to 6:30pm).

Outside No.730 to No. 726 High Road, N12,

(5.5 metres), (Convert part of an existing shared loading bay operating between 8:00am to 10:00am and 4:00pm to 6:30pm Monday to Saturday and a limited waiting bay operating between 10:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Saturday).
