TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury have made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicles from proceeding along:-
Radcliffe Road, Bury (slip road) – full length
The reason for the proposed order is to facilitate junction upgrade works
The alternate route will be via Manchester Road, Angouleme Way, Knowsley Street & vice versa
The Order comes into operation on 20/07/2026 and shall remain in force for a period of up to 18 months, although the anticipated duration of the works is approximately up to 4 weeks.

TEMPORARY ONE-WAY WORKING ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury intend in not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicles from proceeding along:-
Whittaker Lane, Prestwich in an easterly direction – between property No.12a to property No.10
The reason for the proposed order is to facilitate Electricity Northwest works
The alternative route will be via Bury Old Road, Scholes Lane, Heywood Road & vice versa
The proposed Order will come into operation on 03/08/2026 and shall remain in force for a period of up to 18 months, although the anticipated duration of the works is approximately 3 days.

PROPOSED NEW PUFFIN CROSSING – B6196 AINSWORTH -
BURY
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bury Metropolitan Borough Council in exercise of its powers under section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police for Greater Manchester, proposes to install a Puffin Crossing at the following location not less than 28 days from the date of this notice.
B6196 Ainsworth Road – Bury – Puffin Crossing – near to junction with Watling Street.
A copy of the proposals, a plan showing the location of the proposed Puffin Crossing and a statement of the Council's reasons for making the proposal may be requested by email at traffic.calming@bury.gov.uk quoting reference PC/117.
All representations whether in support or objecting to the proposals, together with the grounds on which they are made must be made in writing and sent to the Traffic Team, Bury Council, Bradley Fold depot, 34, Bradley Fold Road, Ainsworth, Radcliffe, Bury, BL2 6RS or preferably by email to TROObjections@bury.gov.uk quoting the PC reference above by 13th August 2026.

TOTTINGTON
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bury Metropolitan Borough Council in exercise of its powers under section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police for Greater Manchester, proposes to remove an existing Zebra Crossing and replace it with a Puffin Crossing at the following location:
B6213 Market Street – Tottington – Puffin Crossing – just north of the junction of Laurel Street.
A copy of the proposals, a plan showing the location of the proposed Puffin Crossing and a statement of the Council's reasons for making the proposal may be inspected at Town Hall, Knowsley Street, Bury BL9 0SW between 9:30am-4:30pm or requested by email at traffic.calming@bury.gov.uk quoting reference PC/118.
