What is happening?

THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL

Townpath Upper High Street to Church Road (T6056) Epsom - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of which will be to prohibit pedestrians from entering or proceeding in that length of Townpath from Hazelwood Lane to Outwood Lane (T9031) Chipstead as extends from its junction with Church Road (C197) to its junction with Townpath – Church Road to Barely Mow.

Alternative route: A2022 (Upper High Street) and Church Road, or this route in reverse.

This Order is required to enable Openreach to facilitate the installation of ducting and boxes and associated works.

These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 6-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences 10 August 2026 for 3 days between the hours of 8:00am and 6.00pm.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation for 24-hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of which will be to prohibit any person from entering or proceeding in that length of Rights of Way route 78 Townpath – Hazon Way to Waterloo Road (T6040), Epsom that extends alongside the western property boundary of "No.29 Waterloo Road.

This Traffic Order is required to enable ALS Civil Engineers Limited and/or UKPN to excavate joint bay, expose all cables in footpath and trench to customers ducting, lay cable, joint and reinstate and/or associated works.

These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm within 5 days of the 18-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 04 August 2026.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be required for 24 hours each day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

Access for residents, businesses, emergency services, pedestrians and, dismounted cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times via the alternative route:- Rights of way route 78 Townpath – Hazon Way to Waterloo Road (T6040) and Waterloo Road.
