The Common Road - Temporary Road Closure Due To Air Valve Works

Notice of Intention

NOTICE is hereby given that Herefordshire Council, as highway authority, intend, under its relevant powers, to make the following Order: U74401 The Common Road, Lower Maescoed, Temporary Road Closure Order, to temporarily prohibit the use by vehicles on the U74401 - The Common Road - Lower Maescoed, adjacent to entrance to The New Inn. Grid Ref: 334187/230571.

The alternative route for those affected by the proposal is via Old School Road From Sunny Bank To Shepherds Hill onto the C1213 From River Monnow To Shepherds Hill onto the C1213 Shepherds Hill To Great Walk Mill Farm and vice versa.

The said closure is required due to air valve works and the likelihood of danger to the public whilst the works are taking place. The said closure will come into force on 10th of August 2026 and remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months (unless extended with the consent of the Secretary of State) but the works are expected to be completed within 2 days.
