Wiltshire - Multiple Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

A) B4039 (Part), Castle Combe: from its junction with Grittleton Road to its junction with Dunns Lane to enable SSE to carry out pole replacement works and other associated works. Alternative route via B4039 (unaffected length) – A420 – A46 – B4040 – B4039 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 10 August 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 16:00 for 1 day. For further information please contact SSE on 0345 078 6741.

B) Post Office Lane (Part), Broad Hinton; from its junction with A4361 to its junction with The Croft to enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out overhead cabling works and other associated works. Alternative route via Post Office Lane (unaffected length) – Summers Lane – A4361 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 12 August 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 for 1 day. C) A342 (Part), Chirton; from a point 35m east of its junction with The Hollow for a distance of approximately 40m in an easterly direction to enable Wessex Water Services to carry out new connection and other associated works. Alternative route via A342 (unaffected length) – A360 – B3086 – The Packway – A345 – A342 (unaffected length) and vice versa. D) C198 (Part), Ham; from its junction with Ham Road for a distance of approximately 335m in a northerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out excavate to install 8x pole. Alternative route via A338 – Mill Lane – Ham Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 12 August 2026 and the closure will be required for 3 days. E) C111 (Part), Bremhill; from its junction with C135 for a distance of approximately 1.3km in a north westerly direction to enable Wessex Water Services to carry out reinstatement defect repairs and other associated works. Alternative route via C111 (unaffected length) – C118 – C135 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 10 August 2026 and the closure will be required for 1 day. F) C74 (Part), Great Bedwyn; from its junction with Galley Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in an easterly direction to enable Thames Water Utilities Limited to carry out excavate, install pressure reducing valve and strainer on a bypass off an 8" main – backfill and reinstate. Alternative route via C74 (unaffected length) – UC 286101 – C204 – C30 – C74 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 10 August 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 until 20 August 2026. G) C197 (Part), Shalbourne; from its property known as The Steeples to its property known as South Lodge to enable Openreach to carry out frame and cover repair. Alternative route via C197 (unaffected length) – A338 – C197 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 13 August 2026 and the closure will be required for 2 days. I) C193 (Part), Ramsbury; from its junction with C6 for a distance of approximately 1000m in a north westerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out clean 2 blockages in SW, OS The Barn/Lay 1m duct in SW, JN C of Whites Hill. Alternative route via C190 – C6 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 12 August 2026 and the closure will be required for 3 days. J) C28 (Part), Lydiard Millicent; from its junction with Bagbury Lane for a distance of approximately 90m in a westerly direction to enable Thames Water to carry out new supply connection works and other associated works. Alternative route via C28 (unaffected length) – C414 – C34 – C28 (unaffected length) and vice versa. L) C154 (Part), Kington St Michael; from its property known as No.01 Honey Knob Hill for a distance of approximately 98m in a south easterly direction to enable Gigaclear to carry out defect rectification works and other associated works. Alternative route via C154 (unaffected length) – C153 – B4039 – C86 – C178 – C154 (unaffected length) and vice versa. M) C193 (Part), Ramsbury; from its junction with High Street for a distance of approximately 1000m in a northerly direction to enable Openreach Limited to carry out access joint box for gully and other associated works. Alternative route via C193 (unaffected length) – C190 – C6 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 20 July 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 21:00 and 06:00 for 5 nights. N) Lockeridge Lane (Part), Preshute; from a point approximately 53m west of its junction with Bayardo Lane for a distance of approximately 85m in a westerly direction.

O) Bayardo Lane (Part), Preshute; from its junction with Lockeridge Lane for a distance of approximately 260m in a northerly direction to enable Openreach Limited to provide multiple poles and other associated works. Alternative route via Lockeridge Lane (unaffected length) – Ryles Lane – C38 – A4 and vice versa. This Order which previously came into operation on 01 June 2026 will now recommence on 20 July 2026 and the closure will be required for 3 days. P) C71 (Part), Grittleton and Nettleton; from its junction with B4039 to its junction with UC 817802 to enable Openreach to carry out excavation works and other associated works. Alternative route via C71 (unaffected length) – C160 – C151 – B4039 and vice versa. This Order which previously came into operation on 03 June 2026 will now recommence on 20 July 2026 and the closure will be required for 5 days. Orders A) to M) will have a maximum duration of 18 months, Orders N) to P) has a maximum duration of 18 months.

The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.
