THE LEICESTER (20 M.P.H. SPEED LIMIT)
(BRAUNSTONE ESTATE SOUTH) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Leicester City Council proposes to make an Order under Sections 84(1) and 84 (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of this Order is to prohibit any motor vehicle from travelling at a speed exceeding 20 miles per hour along the lengths of road as set out below:

Audley End - Whole Length
Bainbridge Road - Whole Length
Beaufort Road - Whole Length
Bewicke Road - Whole Length
Bonville Place - Whole Length
Braunstone Avenue - From its junction with Hallam Cresent East to its junction with Valence Road
Burnell Road - Whole Length
Caldecote Road - Whole Length
Coninsby Close - Whole Length
Curteys Close - Whole Length
Ellesmere Place - Whole Length
Ellesmere Road - Whole Length
Folville Rise - Whole Length
Fosse Road South - From its junction with Fullhurst Avenue to its junction with Hallam Crescent East
Gooding Avenue - From its junction with Fullhurst Avenue to its junction with Braunstone Avenue
Gooding Close - Whole Length
Hallam Crescent East - From its junction with Waltham Avenue to its junction with
Fullhurst Avenue
Herle Avenue - Whole Length

No speed limit imposed by this Order applies to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations
A further effect of this Order is to revoke The Leicester Traffic Regulation (20mph Speed Limit) (Caldecote Primary School Area) Order 2007, The Leicester Traffic Regulation (20mph Speed Limit) (Caldecote Primary School) Order (Amendment) Order 2009, and The Leicester (20mph Speed Limit) (Folville Rise Area) Order 2016.
A COPY of the proposed Order, the relevant plan, and the Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order may be seen via the Leicester City Council website: www.leicester.gov.uk/trafficregulationorders or by calling 0116 454 1001 or 0116 454 4866 and requesting paper copies to be sent out via post.
OBJECTIONS to the proposed Order should be sent to michael.byrne@leicester.gov.uk or by post to Transport Strategy, Leicester City Council, City Hall, 115 Charles Street, Leicester, LE1 1FZ and marked for the attention of Michael Byrne.
Any objections should state the grounds on which they are made and must be received by Friday 7th August 2026. Any queries regarding the Scheme should be made to Michael Byrne on 0116 454 6914.
