Station View - Temporary Road Closure Due To Carriageway Resurfacing Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (C18a and B6302 Station View-Durham Road, Esh Winning) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road.
1) A 335 metre length of C18a, from and including its junction with Station Avenue and extending south west beyond the junction with Woodland Terrace and Cemetery Road.
2) A 470 metre length of B6302, from and including its junction with Newhouse Road and extending north east to the junction with Fair View to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken.
An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from:
1) The south western side of the closure, from C18a north on Ivesley Lane to B6301 Hedleyhill Lane, then north easterly to B6302 and turning easterly and south easterly on Newhouse Lane, leading the north eastern side of the closure.
2) The north eastern side of the closure, from B6302 westerly and north westerly on Fair View, south on Newhouse Road, south west on Ridding Road and south east on Cemetery Road, to the south western side of the closure and vice versa.
The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are required from 7pm on Monday 3/8/2026 and the anticipated duration of the closure is 2 nights between 7pm-6am, then 8 days between 7am-7pm. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
