What is happening?

Notice of confirmation of a Definitive Map Modification Order, Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981, The former West Riding of Yorkshire no.1 Area (Dales) Definitive Map & Statement Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (Restricted Byway at Thwaite Lane Clapham cum-Newby & Austwick) Modification Order 2007

On 29/06/26 Secretary of State for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs confirmed the above-named Order with modifications.

The effect of the confirmed Order is to modify the Definitive Map by adding a Restricted Byway & upgrading to Restricted Byway the bridleway along the route known as Thwaite Lane, running from GR SD 7457 6941 in Clapham to GR SD 7746 6909 on the C119 road near Austwick.

A copy of the confirmed Order & map may be seen free of charge during normal office hours at Settle Community Library, North Yorkshire until 27/08/26, & copies may be purchased from Definitive Map Team, North Yorkshire Council, County Hall, Northallerton, North Yorkshire, DL7 8AD (tel: 01609 532512) at a cost of £2 or downloaded free from our website www.northyorks.gov.uk/pathnotices.

The Order comes into effect on the date it was confirmed.

If any person aggrieved by the confirmed Order wishes to question its validity on the ground that it is not within the power of Section 53 of the above-named Act, or that any requirement of Schedule 15 of the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, within 42 days of the date of this Notice, make an application to the High Court under Schedule 15(12) to the Act.
