Cumberland - Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Utility Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C2007 BRIGHAM, U2197 PARDSHAW, U2497 ELLERBECK LANE, WORKINGTON AND U2199 LOW LORTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:
1. C2007 Brigham, from its junction with Stan Fanning, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 60m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C2007, Ellerbeck Brow and High Brigham, C2065 Low Road and A66.
Duration: From 3 August 2026 for approx. 2 days between 1800 and 2300 hours, each day (Ref: TTROC/190120)
2. U2I97 Pardshaw, from a point adjacent to the property known as Fellside Cottage, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 70m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U2197, U2I98 and A5086, Peppercoats Brow.
Duration: From 12 August 2026 for approx. 2 days between 0800 and 1700 hours, each day (Ref: TTROC/19103)
3. U2497 Ellerbeck Lane, Workington, from a point adjacent to No. 39 Ellerbeck Lane, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 80m.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
Duration: From 27 August 2026 for approx. 2 days between 0800 and 1700 hours, each day (Ref: TTROC/019236)
4. U2I99 Low Lorton, from its junction with the U2202, extending in an easterly direction for approx. 60m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U2I99, B5289, B5292, C2027, U2201 and U2202.
Duration: From 7 September 2026 for approx. 2 days between 0800 and 1700 hours, each day (Ref: TTROC/19126)
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 3 August 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
