What is happening?

TRAFFIC ORDER PROPOSALS: PROHIBITION OF DRIVING (EXCEPT BUSES) AND ONE-WAY TRAFFIC FOR BUSES AND TAXIS ON COURT ROAD IN ALDERSHOT

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council (“the Council”) proposes to make the above-mentioned Orders, in exercise of its powers and duties under Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 122 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Act, and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act and having discharged its duty under section 122 of the Act.  
GENERAL NATURE AND EFFECTS OF THE ORDER: Will be to impose a prohibition of driving (Except for local buses and taxis) on Court Road operating in conjunction with a one-way traffic system whereby local buses may only travel southbound, and taxis may only travel northbound through the prohibition of driving zone.   AND   To revoke several instances of No Waiting at Any Time; Limited Waiting bays; Loading Only; Pay & Display parking bays and taxi ranks on several roads in Aldershot Town Centre and reinstate them elsewhere on the same roads. This will have the effect of increasing the amount of taxi ranks and decreasing the amount of limited waiting and Pay & Display bays in Aldershot Town Centre.

OBJECTIONS AND OTHER REPRESENTATIONS: All objections/other representations in respect of this proposal must be made in writing to The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UD or email public.notices@hants.gov.uk quoting reference: A2177/MJB, by Friday 14th August 2026. All objections must state the grounds on which they are made. Under the requirements of current access to information legislation, any statement you make to the Council in response to this Notice may be made available to the press and to the public, who would be entitled to take copies of it if they so wished.   TITLE: The orders, if made, will be known as “The Hampshire (Court Road, Aldershot) (Prohibition of Driving and One Way Traffic) Order 2026” and “The Hampshire (Various Roads, Aldershot Town Centre) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading, Stopping and Parking Places) Order 2026”.
