What is happening?
Temporary Closure of Downs Lane, Yetminster
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along DOWNS LANE, YETMINSTER, in its entirety, a distance of approximately 280 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 06 August 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 19 August 2026.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway surfacing works.
A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Temporary Traffic Management Order of A37, Melbury Osmond
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 05 August 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 15 August 2026.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing works.
The effect of the Order is as follows:
[1] To impose a temporary road closure on A37, MELBURY OSMOND between the county boundary and The Sheaf of Arrows, a distance of approximately 1360 metres.
[2] To impose a parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent parking on the highway along A37, MELBURY OSMOND between the county boundary and The Sheaf of Arrows, a distance of approximately 1360 metres.
[3] To impose a clearway as indicated by signs on site to prevent parking on the highway along A37, MELBURY OSMOND between the county boundary and The Sheaf of Arrows, a distance of approximately 1360 metres.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

The above order, made on 2 July 2026 under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980, will divert Footpath 11, Puncknowle as shown on the order map as follows:
From the existing path:
From SY 5376 8849 generally southeast through the gardens of 9, 8 and 7 Springfield into a field and continuing southeast to SY 5382 8842. (No recorded width) To the new path:
From SY 5376 8849 southeast to SY 5376 8848, where it enters a field then southeast to SY 5379 8843, then east southeast, crossing into a second field and continuing east southeast to SY 5382 8842. Width – 2 metres except at (SY 5376 8848), 1.1 metre pedestrian gate to BS5709:2018

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 8 September 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 15 September 2026.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.
The effect of the order is as follows:
[1] To impose temporary road closure on A357, Shillingstone from junction with Norton Lane to junction with Gains Cross Lane (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1500 metres. Please note the closures will be in operation, as and when indicated by signs on site. Advanced warning signs will be placed on the road two weeks advance of the closure to indicate the exact dates the closure will affect the roads.
[2] To impose clearway and parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting or parking on the highway along A357, Shillingstone from junction with Norton Lane to junction with Gains Cross Lane (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1500 metres. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

It will come into operation on 29 July 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 12 August 2026.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out surface dressing works.
The effect of this Order is as follows:
[i] To impose a temporary road closure on: Bay Road, Gillingham as indicated by signs on site.

Temporary Traffic Management Order, C13 Dinahs Hollow, Melbury Abbas
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise likelihood of danger to highway users. The Order comes into operation on 11 July 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 31 December 2026.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to undertake year long bank stabilisation works at Dinahs Hollow.
The effect of the Order is as follows:
[1] To impose temporary road closure on C13 Dinahs Hollow, Melbury Abbas & Cann from Gore Clump junction to junction with B3081 (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1980 metres. However access will be maintained for residents, deliveries and emergency services between Gore Clump and West Lane.
A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections and will take traffic via A350. In addition there will be a separate HGV diversion for southbound traffic via A30 Shaftesbury to Henstridge, A357 from Henstridge to Durweston.
To facilitate the diversion and safe travel around the network the following measures will be in place:
[2] To impose a temporary 20mph speed limit on the following roads at such times and to such extent as indicated by the traffic signs: [i] A350, Iwerne Minster from a point approximately 175 metres to the south of its junction with Oakwood Drive to a point approximately 75 metres to the north of its junction with Clayesmore School Entrance; [ii] A350, Sutton Waldron from a point approximately 180 metres to the south of its junction with The Street to a point approximately 180 metres to the north of its junction with The Street; [iii] A350, Fontmell Magna from a point approximately 30 metres south of its junction with Sutton View to a point approximately 150 metres north of its junction with private road to Croft Farm; [iv] A350, Compton Abbas from a point approximately 304 metres south from its junction with Hawkcombe Lane to a point approximately 346 metres north of its junction with Hawkcombe Lane.
[3] To impose a temporary 30mph speed limit on the following roads at such times and to such extent as indicated by the traffic signs: [i] A350, Iwerne Stepleton from a point approximately 190 metres south of its junction with Smugglers Lane to a point approximately 480 metres south of its junction with Main Street.
[4] To impose temporary one way order on the following roads as indicated by signs on site: [i] White Pit Lane, East Melbury from junction with B3081 to junction with C13 traffic will be prohibited from travelling southbound; [ii] School Lane & Quarry Lane, Melbury Abbas from junction with C13 to junction with West Lane traffic will be prohibited from travelling westbound; [iii] West Lane, Melbury Abbas from junction with C13 to junction with Quarry Lane traffic will be prohibited from travelling eastbound; [iv] Mill Hollow Lane, Melbury Abbas from junction B3081 to junction with West Lane traffic will be prohibited from travelling Northbound.

All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Tanzey Lane, Marnhull from junction with Sodom Lane and B3092 (in both directions), a distance of approximately 290 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 3 August 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 14 August 2026
This Order will provide a safe working area to enable BCT Services South and Wessex Water to complete necessary works on behalf of Hampshire Homes.
An alternative vehicular route will be signed using Sodom Lane, B3092 and vice versa.
