THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF MIDDLESBROUGH (FOOTPATH No 60, NUNTHORPE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
The Council of the Borough of Middlesbrough gives notice that it proposes the make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and any other enabling powers over an area of the highway described in the Schedule hereto and as shown by the bold black line on the plan TTRO-2026-04 attached to the Order ("the Plan") because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the footpath. An alternative route will be available for use while the Order is in force as described in the Schedule hereto and as shown by the dashed black line on the Plan. The roads will be closed from 3rd August 2026 for six months. The Order may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport. Access will be maintained for any person being an owner, lessee, tenant or occupier of those premises adjoining the said length(s) of road, any vehicle to be used for the purpose of delivering or collecting postal packages as defined in S. 87 of the Post Office Act 1953, the emergency services, any vehicle, if it cannot conveniently be used for such a purpose in any other road, to be used in connection with any of the following operations: building, industrial or demolition operation, removal of any obstruction to traffic, the maintenance, improvement or re-construction of the said sides of road or lengths of road, the laying, erection, alteration or repair in or in land adjacent to the said sides of road or lengths of road, of any sewer or main pipe or apparatus and the supply of gas, water or electricity or of any telegraphic apparatus as defined in Schedule 2 of the Telecommunications Act 1984, in the service of a local authority or a water authority pursuance of statutory powers or duties. A copy of the draft Order and the Plan may be inspected free of charge at Central Library, Centre Square, Middlesbrough, TS1 2AY between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday to Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and on the Council's website www.middlesbrough.gov.uk.

SCHEDULE - Description of highway to be temporarily closed: The path runs between the A1043 (Nunthorpe Bypass) and Guisborough Road, across the fields and past the Nunthorpe & Marton Rackets Club commencing at grid ref. NZ53946/14243, then proceeding in a generally northerly direction for approximately 71 metres to a point at grid ref. NZ53937/14317, then in a generally north westerly direction for approximately 204 metres along a field boundary through a gate to a point at grid ref. NZ53805/14472. Description of alternative route: Commencing at grid ref. NZ53946/14243, the route proceeds in a generally south westerly direction for approximately 124 metres to a point on the path at grid ref. NZ53853/14155 then in a generally north easterly direction for approximately 252 metres and then continuing parallel to the hedge to a point behind no 1 The Woodlands at grid ref. NZ53679/14331.
The path then proceeds in a generally north westerly direction for approximately 190 metres along the tree line to grid ref. NZ53805/14472.
