STOCKTON-ON-TEES BOROUGH COUNCIL
STOCKTON INTERNATIONAL RIVERSIDE FESTIVAL
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council propose to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 not less than seven days from the date hereof, the Highway Authority being satisfied that the restrictions are required because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.

The effect of the Order, which will come into effect on 24th July 2026, will be to temporarily close various lengths of roads within the Borough, at such times as traffic management signs may be erected to notify users of the closures. The Order will also have the effect of creating temporary clearways on various lengths of roads and suspending some hackney carriage stands. The restrictions and roads affected are specified in the draft Order and plan which can be viewed on the Council’s website (Traffic Orders). It is expected that the restrictions will be between approximately 26th July and 4th August 2026.

The Order may continue in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. A press release on the festival will be produced to include access arrangements and temporary diversions during the Carnival. Bus services will be affected, and temporary stops will be in use on Prince Regent Street, Stockton.

Dated 17th July 2026
