What is happening?

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PUBLIC BRIDLEWAY W21/73, BEAMINSTER

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Public Bridleway W21/73, from grid reference ST 4708, 0166 to grid reference ST 46871 02198, a distance of approximately 600 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.

It will come into operation on 27 July 2026, for a period of 14 days but it will remain in force for 26 weeks and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.

This Order will enable Paul Basham Associates to enable construction of a new development.

On this occasion there will be no suitable alternative route.
