THE A4123 TRUNK ROAD, (BIRCHLEY ISLAND ROUNDABOUT) (DETRUNKING) ORDER 202x

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR TRANSPORT hereby gives notice that they propose to make an Order under sections 10(2) and 12(3) of the Highways Act 1980 which provides that an area of 964 square metres of the existing A4123 trunk road forming part of the Birchley Island Roundabout and M5 Link shall cease to be trunk road as from the date on which the Order comes into force and responsibility shall transfer to Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council (who will become the highway authority for that area).

COPIES of the draft Order and the plan referred to in it may be inspected free of charge at all reasonable hours at the offices of  the Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, Council House, Freeth Street, Oldbury, B69 3DE in the 6 weeks commencing on 15 July 2026. They may also be obtained, free of charge, from the address stated below.

ANY PERSON may object to the making of the Order within six weeks from the date of first publication of this notice by writing to the Secretary of State for Transport, Transport Infrastructure Planning Casework Unit, PO Box 1393, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE99 5FQ, or to nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk, quoting the title of this Notice and stating the grounds of objection. In the preparation of an objection and the statement of grounds of objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of any objection or representation may be communicated to other people who may be affected by it.

In submitting an objection or representation, it should be noted that your personal data and correspondence will be shared with Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council as the promoting authority for the scheme. Should the Order become the subject of a Public Inquiry all correspondence will be copied to the Inspector conducting the Inquiry and will be kept in the Public Inquiry library, where it is publicly available.

If you do not wish your personal data to be forwarded, please state your reasons when submitting your objection or representation and the Secretary of State will send a copy of your representations, with your name and address removed, to Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council and if there is to be a Public Inquiry they will be seen by the Inspector who may give them less weight as a result. Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council may disclose your objections or representations, with your name and address removed to other parties acting on its behalf.
