TRAFFIC REGULATION (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2009
(REDHEUGH BRIDGE APPROACH ROADS VARIATION) ORDER 2026
1.NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 9 th July 2026 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 29 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which amends the City of Newcastle upon Tyne Traffic Regulation (Consolidation) Order 2009 ("the 2009 Consolidation Order").
2. The effect of the variation Order which will come into operation on the 16th August 2026 is to introduce a prohibition of traffic as and when traffic signs are displayed restriction on the following lengths of road -
(i) A189 Scotswood Road southbound lane from its junction with St James Gate to Redheugh Bridge;
(ii) A189 St James Boulevard southbound lane from a point 50 metres north of its junction with A189 Scotswood Road to Redheugh Bridge; and
(iii) A695 Scotswood Road southbound lanes from a point 100 metres southwest of its junction with A189 St James Boulevard to Redheugh Bridge.

4. If you wish to question the validity of the above Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any relevant requirements have not been complied with in relation to the Order you may, within six weeks from the 9th July 2026, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
