PUBLIC NOTICE:

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE A201 GLA ROAD (BLACKFRIARS ROAD, LONDON BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND STOPPING) ORDER 2026

1. Transport for London in consultation with the London Borough of Southwark hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2.   The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

2. The purpose of the Order is to enable crane operational works to take place at A201 Blackfriars Road in the London Borough of Southwark.

3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle except pedal cycles from:

(1) entering, exiting, proceeding or stopping on Blackfriars Road between its junctions with Union Street and Webber Street. Local access will be maintained on Blackfriars Road between its junctions with Union Street and Pocock Street and Borough Road/ Elephant and Castle Roundabout and Webber Street;

(2) entering, exiting, proceeding or stopping on Pocock Street between its junctions with Blackfriars Road and the vehicle access point to Manna Ash House Nos. 8-16 Pocock Street.

The Order will also suspend the eastern footway on Blackfriars Road between its junctions with Union Street and Webber Street.

The Order will be effective between the dates of 31st July 2026 and 24th August 2026, every Friday at 9:00 PM until Monday at 3:00 AM or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.  The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

4.    The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;

(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.              

5. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs for southbound traffic on Blackfriars Road via Union Street, Great Suffolk Street and Webber Street to normal route of travel. for northbound traffic via Blackfriars Road, Borough Road, Borough High Street and Southwark Street to normal route of travel.
