Traffic Signal Recovery Programme Order 2026

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce the following temporary prohibition of vehicles as specified in the Schedules below. This Order will come into operation on the 29th day of July 2026 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The works are to be phased as signed on site and are expected to commence on the 3rd day of August 2026 and last until the 2nd day of November 2026, as described in the schedules below. This Order is to enable Somerset Council to conduct permanent traffic signal refurbishment works. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs. There will be exemptions in the Order for School Buses, Where directed. A copy of the draft Traffic Regulation Order and the associated plans can be examined at www.somerset.gov.uk/TRO

Stapleton Cross, Martock

Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

B3165 Long Load Road, Martock - From the junction with Highway Road in a northerly direction for a distance of 80 metres

Highway Road, Martock - From the junction with the B3165 Long Load Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 53 metres

Highway, Ash - From the junction with the B3165 Long Load Road in an easterly direction for a distance of 153 metres

B3165 Stapleton Road, Martock - From the junction with Highway Road in a southerly direction for a distance of 91 metres

Lydford Crossways, Lydford-on-Fosse

14th September 2026 to 25th September 2026 between the hours of 1830 and 0700

Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

B3153 Castle Cary Road, West Lydford - From the junction with the A37 Fosse Way in a westerly direction for a distance of 111 metres

B3153 Castle Cary Road, West Lydford - From the junction with the A37 Fosse way in an easterly direction for a distance of 118 metres

Schedule 3

B3153 Lovington

3rd September 2026 to 2nd November 2026, 24 hours a day

(access to be given for the school bus to pass through during term times)

Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

B3153 Lydford on Fosse to Lovington, Lovington - From a point 53 metres west of the junction with Lovington Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 168 metres

Statement of reasons for making the Order

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road, or

b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
