What is happening?

THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(WILSON STREET AND MOUNT LANE FOOTPATH) 
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF WAITING, LOADING AND UNLOADING, ANDTEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE) ORDER 2026 (N26-245)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nottinghamshire County Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order, under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, in respect of roads at Newark On Trent in the District of Newark and Sherwood.

The effects of the Order will be:
1. Vehicles are prohibited from Waiting, Loading and Unloading (both sides) (at all times) in the following length of road at Balderton:

a. Wilson Street, Newark - From junction with Slaughterhouse Lane to its junction with Kirk gate

2. No Person shall proceed on foot or pedal cycle to which the public has access ("Footpath") in the following length of roads at Newark on Trent in the District of Newark and Sherwood:
a. Footpath Mount Lane, Newark - From junction with Mount Lane to its junction with Wilson Street.

3. All existing permanent restrictions will be temporarily
suspended as required.

4. The restrictions specified above shall only be in effect when the signs are in place.

IT IS INTENDED that the prohibitions respecting the above road or roads will apply as follows:
From 09.00, Monday, 27 July 2026
Until 16:00 Friday, 28 August 2026 inclusive.

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN
The Order will come into force on Monday, 27 July 2026 and any prohibition in it shall apply on that day and any subsequent day when necessary to enable works to be carried out. The Order shall continue in force until the works are completed (within a maximum period of 18 months). 

The prohibition is required to enable National Grid to carry out new supply works.
