What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C4024 BIRKS ROAD, U4218 MONTREAL STREET AND B5295 HIGH STREET, CLEATOR MOOR) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to:

1. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the C4024 Birks Road, Cleator Moor, from its junction with High Street, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 20m. (Ref: TTROC/19043)

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Birks Road, B5294 and High Street.

2. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the U4218 Montreal Street, Cleator Moor, from its junction with High Street, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 30m. (Ref: TTROC/19046)

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Montreal Street, Jacktrees Road and High Street.

3. Prohibit any vehicle from waiting at any time, on any day and/or from loading and unloading, at any time, on any day (including blue badge holders) along that section of the B5295 High Street, Cleator Moor, (south west side) from its junction with Montreal Street, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 40m. (Ref: TTROC/19178)

The Order will come into operation on 9 August 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 3 days, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
