NOTICE OF TRAFFIC ORDERS FOR TEMPORARY CLOSURES
Notice is given that SWINDON BOROUGH COUNCIL intend to make the following orders:
(STR001379 Old Town Festivals) This Order is being introduced for the Old Town Events and will prohibit vehicles from proceeding on Wood Street (entire length) and Victoria Road between Union Row and Bath Road for the following events:
Beer and Country Festival – Sunday 9th August 2026
Street Food Festival – Sunday 30th August 2026
Day of the Dead – Sunday 1st November 2026
Xmas Lights Switch On – Sunday 22nd November 2026
Summer Festival – Sunday 6th June 2027
Northbound Traffic to be diverted via Devizes Road, Newport Street, High Street, Cricklade Street, Drove Road, Groundwell Road and Southbound traffic via Victoria Road, Regent Circus, Clarence Street and Groundwell Road, Drove Road, Cricklade Street. The Order comes into force on the 9 August 2026 for 12 months and will only come into force from 06:00 to 20:00 hours on the days of the above events only.
(STR001379 Hinton Parva Lane, Hinton Parva) This Order is being introduced for THAMES WATER WORKS and will impose a prohibition of driving on Hinton Parva Lane opposite Nether Water Cottage. Traffic to be diverted via Body Horse Hill and City Corner. The Order comes into force on the 18 August 2026 for 6 months but works are expected to take place on between 18 and 20 August 2026.
(STR001367 Stratton Road, Swindon) This Order is being introduced for MOBILE TELECOM WORKS and will impose a prohibition of driving on Stratton Road south of Greenbridge Roundabout. Traffic to be diverted via Gipsy Lane, A4311 Cirencester Way, Transfer Bridge, Ocotal Way, Drakes Way and vice versa. The Order comes into force on the 24 August 2026 for 6 months but works are expected to take place on the 24 August 2026 between the times of 00:30 to 05:00.
(STR001370 Hunts Hill, Blunsdon) This Order is being introduced for WALES AND WEST UTILITIES and will impose a prohibition of driving on Hunts Hill, Blundon, outside Fern Cottage. Traffic to be diverted via High Street, Chapel Street and vice versa. The Order comes into force on the 24 August 2026 for 6 months but works are expected to take place on the 24 and 28 August 2026.
(STR001346 Galton Way, Swindon) This Order is being introduced for CIRCET WIRELESS LTD and will impose a prohibition of driving on Galton Way junction with Great Western Way. The Order comes into force on the 10 August 2026 for 6 months but works are expected to take place between 10 to 14 August 2026.
(STR001365 Starwell Close, Blunsdon) This Order is being introduced for RECONSTRUCTION WORKS and will impose a prohibition of driving on Starwell Lane, Blunsdon. The Order comes into force on the 3 August 2026 for 18 months.
(STR001363 Albert Street, Swindon) This Order is being introduced for THAMES WATER and will impose a prohibition of driving on Albert Street. Traffic to be diverted via Albert Street, Wood Street, Bath Road, Victoria Road and Union Row. The Order comes into force on the 3 August 2026 for 6 months but works are expected to take place between 3 and 5 August 2026.
(STR001350 Curtis Street, Swindon) This Order is being introduced for SSE and will impose a prohibition of driving on Curtis Street outside Property No’s 13 to 90. Traffic to be diverted via Curtis Street, Farnsby Street, Faringdon Road, Cambria Bridge Road and Curtis Street. The Order comes into force on the 24 August 2026 for 6 months but works are expected to take place between 24 to 28 August 2026.
(STR001301 Cranmore Avenue, Park South) This Order is introduced for SSE and will impose a closure of the carriageway, footway and verge on Cranmore Avenue between the junctions of Trentham Close and Wolseley Avenue. Traffic to be diverted via Cranmore Avenue, Rushton Avenue, Thornbridge Avenue and Wolseley Avenue. The Order comes into force on the 10 August 2026 for 6 months but it is expected works are completed by 28 August 2026.
(STR001377 Marlborough Road, Wroughton) This Order is being introduced for WALES AND WEST UTILITIES and will impose a prohibition of driving on Marlborough Road between roundabout junctions with Devizes Road/Moormead Road and The Pitchens. Traffic to be diverted via Moormead Road, Swindon Road, Croft Road, Pipers Long, Marlborough Road, A419 from M4 junction to Commonhead roundabout, back onto Marlborough Road, New Road, Hodson Road, Brimble Hill and vice versa. The Order comes into force on the 3 August 2026 for 6 months but works are expected to take place between 3 August to 7 September 2026.
