The Cornwall Council (Public Footpath No. 1 (Part) Carlyon) (Carlyon Bay) Public Path Diversion Order 2026
On the 23 June 2026 Cornwall Council confirmed the above Order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert a length of Public Footpath Number 1 in the Parish of Carlyon commencing at its junction with a part of Public Footpath 1 Carlyon to be retained 732 metres south-west of 'Carlyon Bay Hotel' at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) SX 04493/51698, then continuing in a east-southeasterly then north-easterly then south-easterly then easterly direction for a distance of 1,158 metres to its point where itterminates at its junction with part of Public Footpath 1 Carlyon to be retained 272 metres east of 'Carlyon Bay Hotel' at OSGR SX 05400/52120 to a revised line commencing at its junction with a part of Public Footpath 1 Carlyon to be retained 732 metres south-west of 'Carlyon Bay Hotel' at OSGR SX 04493/51698, then continuing in a north-easterly then east-south-easterly then north-easterly then easterly then north-easterly then north-north-westerly direction for a distance of 758 metres to a point where it meets 'Sea Road' west of 'Carlyon Bay Hotel' at OSGR SX 05031/52026, then running in a south-easterly then easterly direction for a distance of 430 metres terminating at its junction with part of Public Footpath 1 Carlyon to be retained 272 metres east of 'Carlyon Bay Hotel' at OSGR SX 05400/52120.
A copy of the order and order map may be downloaded from Cornwall Council's website at https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/environment/countryside/public-pathorders/ confirmed-public-path-orders/ and have also been placed and may be seen free of charge at St Austell Library, 2 Carlyon Road, St Austell, PL25 4LD between 9.00 am-17.00 pm Monday to Friday and between 10.00 am-13.00 pm on Saturday. Alternatively copies of the order and order map may be obtained free of charge from proworders@cornwall.gov.uk.
The Order comes into force on the date on which Cornwall Council certify that the terms of Article 1 of the Order have been complied with, but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that any of the provisions contained in it. on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act. within six weeks from 15 July 2026, make application to the High Court.
