NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, has made the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Various Roads in Wigan Borough) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.632) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 26th July 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to introduce restricted loading on Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 9:00am and 3:00pm to 4:00pm on:

•  Sandy Lane, Orrell (Both sides) from its junction with St James Road to a point 25 metres east of its junction with St James Road

•  St James Road, Orrell (East side) from its junction with Sandy Lane to a point 15 metres north of its junction with Sandy Lane

•  Gantley Road, Orrell (East side) from its junction with Sandy Lane to a point 8 metres south of its junction with Sandy Lane.

A copy of the Order and of the relevant map may be requested by emailing libby.gill@wigan.gov.uk Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained therein on the ground:

(a) that it is not within the powers of Section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984; or the Traffic Management Act 2004, or

(b) that any requirement of the said Section 1, or of Part III of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or of any regulations made under the said Part III of Schedule 9 or of any requirement of the 2004 Act, has not been complied with, may within six weeks of 2nd July 2026 make application for the purpose to the High Court.

The effect of the Order will be to revoke no waiting at any time on:

•  King of Prussia Yard, Wigan (West side) from its junction with Hallgate to a point 24 metres south of its junction with Hallgate.

The effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time on:

•  King of Prussia Yard, Wigan (West side) from its junction with Hallgate to a point 3 metres south of its junction with Hallgate.

•  King of Prussia Yard, Wigan (West side) from a point 13 metres south of its junction with Hallgate to a point 24 metres south of its junction with Hallgate.

•  Hallgate, Wigan (Both sides) from its junction with Dorning Street and Bishopgate to the bollards restricting vehicular access from Market Street.

The effect of the Order will be to introduce a loading bay on:

•  King of Prussia Yard, Wigan (West side) from a point 3 metres south of its junction with Hallgate to a point 13 metres south of its junction with Hallgate.

Rectory Lane, Standish – Temporary Closure

Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Rectory Lane, Standish) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Rectory Lane, Standish at the Railway Bridge on 23rd August 2026 between the hours of 00:35 and 07:45.

The alternative route for traffic is: High Street – Wigan Road – Chorley Road. The Order is necessary to allow access/ assessment of bridge.

Public Bridleway Standish No. 49 (Part) – Temporary Stopping Up

Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Standish No.49 (part)) (Temporary Stopping Up) Order 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable, from using:

•   Standish No. 49 from Point A at its junction with Wigan Road as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 356543 409693, to Point B at its junction with Green Lane as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 356289 409615, for a distance of approximately 310 metres in a generally south westerly direction.

An alternative route for pedestrians is available via the public rights of way and road networks as shown on the Order Map.

This public bridleway will be closed for a period of six weeks commencing on 27th July 2026 to safeguard the public whilst surface improvements works are carried out.
