What is happening?
THE CITY OF SOUTHAMPTON (CHESSEL AVENUE) (ROAD CLOSURE) (124/67) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in accordance with Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Southampton City Council intends to
make the above Order.
1. The effect of the Order will be to close Chessel Avenue from its junction with Peartree Avenue to 100m west of its junction with Peartree Avenue.
2. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road. These works are to complete carriageway repairs.
3. The alternative route will be Peartree Avenue, Athelstan Road, Cross Road, Chessel Avenue, Bitterne Road, Bitterne Road West and Garfield Road.
4. The Order will come into force on 31st July 2026 and has a maximum duration of 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is sooner. It is expected that the works will be complete by 31st July 2026.
