What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (FOOTPATH NO 113012 IN THE PARISH OF CUMWHITTON) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Order (“the Order”) made by Cumberland Council on 8 August 2023, which became operative on 18 August 2023, because of the likelihood of danger to the public due to a damaged bridge and to allow repair works to be carried out (“the Works”) and which was due to expire on 18 August 2026

: has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 18 February 2028.

The effect of the Order is to prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along an approx. 1048 metre section of Public Footpath No. 113012 alongside the River Eden in the Parish of Cumwhitton, from its junction with footpath 113010 to its junction with U3047 at Holmwrangle, between Grid References: 351691 549516 and 351727 548408.

There is no suitable alternative route available for pedestrians.
