(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over the following lengths of highway;
I. Drummersdale Lane, Scarisbrick from its junction with Merscar Lane, Scarisbrick for a distance of 175 metres in a southerly direction.
II. Smithy Lane, Scarisbrick from its junction with A570 Southport Road, Scarisbrick for a distance of 196 metres in an easterly direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0930 hours until 1530 hours on Monday 27th July 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
I. Drummersdale Lane - B5242 Dam Wood Lane - B5242 Hall Road – Bescar Lane and Vice Versa.
II. Smithy Lane - B5242 Heatons Bridge Road - B5242 Dam Wood Lane - B5242 Hall Road - B5242 Bescar Brow Lane - A570 Southport Road and Vice Versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow pole testing works to be carried out.
