What is happening?

LONDON BOROUGH OF EALING 
NOTICE OF INTENT TO CREATE A TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDER FOR PLANNED WORKS 
AFFECTING: VARIOUS ROADS, SOUTHALL.

Ealing Council intends to make the following temporary traffic order under section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984:

Title of order
This order can be referred to as: Temporary traffic order for planned works - TT 5278 Various Roads, Southall - 2026.

Reason for order
This order is needed to allow for works taking place on or near the road. These works involve a tower crane operation.

Effect of order
1. This order will close The Green in one direction for traffic heading southbound from Merrick Road & South Road. Vehicles heading northbound on The Green will be unaffected and open to all traffic.
No entry into Hortus Road from The Green. Vehicles exiting Hortus Road onto The Green will be unaffected and open to all traffic. Southbridge Way will have banned right turn for vehicles heading onto The Green. Left turn only.

2. The following temporary restrictions on vehicle movements will take effect from 7th August 2026.
(a) No entry into the fully closed section of The Green & Hortus Road.

(b) No waiting, loading, or unloading on either side of the carriageway within the fully closed section.

3. The above temporary restrictions and prohibitions will only apply at specified locations where appropriate traffic signs are provided and displayed in accordance with Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual.

4. While the temporary restrictions are in place, displaced vehicles should follow the diversions displayed in place to reach their destinations and comply with any traffic management measures.

5. This Order does not apply to:
(a) anything done at the direction of a police officer in uniform or a police community support officer (PCSO). 

(b) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance.

Date order will come into force. 7th August 2026

Maximum duration of order
This order will expire on 6th February 2028 or, on completion of the works, which is expected to be 10th August 2026.

This order provides for back up dates up to and including 14th to 17th August 2026 should the crane operation be delayed. All dates in this order are indicative and subject to weather.
